Within hours of the Track and Trace app being launched, people were reporting that venues were refusing paper track and trace and insisting that people download the app as condition of entry. This was totally predictable and, I'm sure, the government's ultimate intention.
In order to fight back, we've developed a very simple app that generates a sham check-in screen to show door staff. You simply enter the venue name as it's displayed beneath the QR code and presto, the app generates a check in screen identical in every way to the official app, with correct date and time. Unlike the official app however, that is all it does. It doesn't harvest or send data anywhere to anyone for any reason. You can use it in airplane mode and it still works. In fact whatever you type in will appear on the check in screen and this can be used for hilarious effect 😂
It is, of course open source and the source code can be downloaded and examined. In fact, that would be most welcome. Please tell everyone what you find and help us become trusted.
We have an APK download for Android 9 and above. We are working on a web app that can be used for older Androids and iPhones. Obviously, we'd encourage you not to go out if you have symptoms and to remind rogue venues that they have a legal obligation to carry out manual tracing. No point arguing with the doorman though. This app gets you inside so that you can speak to the person responsible.
You can download it from https://www.covid1984.life

Willow - I don't have an Android. I do have the legislation to show anybody that refuses me entry into their premises though. Fortunately I haven't come across this type of discrimination yet.
Maintaining records of staff, customers and visitors to support NHS Test and Trace
'In England, you do not have to request details from people who check in with the official NHS QR poster, and venues should not ask them to do both. Venues must not make the specific use of the NHS QR code a precondition of entry (as the individual has the right to choose to provide their contact details if they prefer). Should someone choose to check in with the official NHS QR poster, a venue should check their phone screen to ensure they have successfully checked in. Many organisations that routinely take bookings already have systems for recording their customers and visitors – including restaurants, hotels, and hair salons. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, more organisations have, or are planning to implement, an ‘advanced booking only’ service to manage the numbers of people on the premises. These booking systems can serve as the source of the information that you need to collect. Customers or visitors can still scan the official NHS QR code if they wish, to help remind them where they have been if asked by NHS Test and Trace. You should collect this information in a way that is manageable for your establishment. If not collected in advance, this information should be collected at the point that visitors enter the premises. It should be recorded electronically if possible, for example through an online booking system, but a paper record is acceptable. If you are keeping a paper record, this should be out of public sight and stored securely. You must ensure that there are options for people to leave their contact details if they do not own a smartphone.'
I only have a smartphone cos a charity for women gave me one cos I had zero ways to contact anyone due to this 'covid' and due to my own personal situation it was female charity who said they pay for my contract and phone to ensure we ok. It's been very welcomed but as you say, I now see 'covid' is being used to harm us who have a smartphone. Can't win!
I wish you the best of luck with the legislation Grumpy Cat, in all honesty we seem to live in a post truth, post science and post law era right now and the word is that these venues simply don't care. Good luck with getting an MP to lift a finger either. I'd take your approach myself, but not everyone can.
I have been to Hospitals, banks, supermarkets, chemists and virtually every other business establishment and although I have been challenged about a mask, once I have told them I do not require one, I have been left alone. If they try tp push the point I WILL quote the relevant legislation, usually the 2010 Equalities act or the 2005 UNESCO(bioethics Human Rights) statement (which is integrated into UK law and if they wish to push the subject further, we will end up in court. I refuse in any way to even 'play' their games, albeit false games.
@stevehabberley I've had threelocal businesses within the space of a week refuse me entry because I wasn't wearing a mask, I didn't push it, I just want them to remember when they turned down a potential customer to feel self-righteous. And, I do think that is what it is, they some how think that policing people will deliver some kind of government award.
@Kemi That is your right to do that and fair play to you for doing it. I just walk straight in, no messing around, along with the other customers but I am ready to hit them with the 2010 equalities act. If they specifically pick you out for different treatment based on the fact that you are not the same as the from the rest of the customers simply because you are not wearing a mask, they have breached the act (section 13/15). The person who asks you to leave can face a personal fine of up to £9000. If the manager of the shop allows the action, he/she faces the same fine. They are not allowed to ask your reasons for not wearing the mask by the same act.
Quite right Grumpy! It is discrimination if entry is refused because a person doesn't have a smart phone. Willow - thanks for the post, I'm sure it will be very useful for those with smart phones. Personally, I wish people would just ditch them - they have already caused enough problems. It is possible to manage without one but very few people can 'let go'.
I don't have one - genuinely. They cannot refuse me entry on that basis alone.
Bryan, pls read my post above 👆
Oh and below lol 👇
this is a great idea. I've been playing a lot of golf thorughout the technocratic takeover and up until a week or so ago, zero track n trace BS. then bam, all must give name/phone number as a condition of play. I'll be using this on them
Great! Let me know how you get on 😊
I do not own a mobile phone and so CANNOT download anything. We DO NOT have to download or use any app. If a business refuses us entry based purely on the fact that we cannot prove what if any status we hold within the Coronavirus act, they are guilty of breaching the 2010 Equalities Act (section 13 and section 15) as well as the Article 6.1 and other articles of 2005 UNESCO(bioethics Human rights) statement that is also integrated into UK law. The Equalities act carries with it a fine for the individual breaching the act of up to £9000. I am NOT obliged to divulge my name, address, medical status or anything else either verbally, in written or electronic form. DO NOT accept this as a reason to check up on you. STAND YOUR GROUND and they will back down.
I refuse to download any app regardless. It is still submission and it does not goes for me, I just don't consume in those sort of places. If businesses haven't got the intelligence and the front to say no to the Government's authoritarian laws, perhaps they should ask themselves how did they managed to get their businesses to work in the first place. May be just through luck and their luck is over and time to close down.
Totally agree! we should not have to download the app in the first place. The fact that it can be overcome is irrelevant . The absolute and best way to overcome such an attempt to control us is to say NO and stick to it.
With all the talk about this app, the website is down.
How do I get it now?
Is there another download site?
Great idea for those who use their smartphone. I stopped taking mine out from the lockdown in March and it's old so won't download alot of new apps. I won't be giving my name and details for anything, the government just keep doing more and more and I made my position clear on the masks, in April, I will not live in the prison they are creating. I am glad however that we've got people innovating in a genuinely progressive way, I was beginning to think we've reduced the opportunities that the internet enabled to memes and social media.
It is good but there is a large part of me that says that we should not accept such a breach in our human rights just because we can short circuit the breach. It should not be there in the first place.
Aw bless you willow and team, I don't go 'out' anymore but I'm sure this will be so helpful for those who do and hate confrontation, are introverts, fearful of violence or badness
Very clever of you tech folk. I have funny feeling the will try this in other venues away from socialising drinking/eating such as shopping and clothes and such like. So keep on building and helping anyway you can. Never know, I may be forced to use it just to get my weekly shop! We should never be forced to use our (your) talents in such in a way, it's a disgrace and you could be spendin your genuius in other humanity saving ways- but that's the darkness we find ourselves in now :( fighting to redress the balance.
