I'm sure there are myriad people who feel oppressed, but don't know that they are not on their own, and have no way of making contact with other like-minded citizens without doing things that make them feel threatened. That is the Government's way of ensuring compliance, the fear and the uncertainty eats into people's souls. But there are many of us, and we need to get together more than just at the protests, good though they are.
We need a way of quietly showing there are others out there that feel like we do, and it occurred to me that was exactly what the "Bang for the NHS" on Thursdays was about. It lasted well past its sell-by date and grabbed a lot of people before it was ridiculed into the ground as a result of dancing nurses and Cummings eye-tests. This is Herd Instinct.
But could we do something like it ourselves?....what about "Whistle for freedom" night? Whistling can be done anywhere where you can fit a football whistle, and the sound travels further. That would let people know there were others out there, and enable meetings and mutual support, unlike the "divide and conquer" situation we have now. The Whistle may not be right, but if we have a safe way of letting others know who is against the opression, we will be stronger. Is there something better than a whistle, that has immediate local effect and can't, by any stretch of the imagination, be something Plod will (can?) harrass people about?
Just a thought....
