I REMOVED PART OF THE CORONAVIRUS ACT 2020, YOU CAN TOO!

21 July 2020 – I issued my Application for Judicial Review against Schedule 8 Coronavirus Act 2020, which made changes to the Mental Health Act - allowing 1 doctor to authorise detention in hospital for long periods of time....

See link to my article about my lawsuit :- https://thebackbencher.co.uk/lock-them-up-the-governments-lockdown-approach-to-mental-health/

August 2020 - Government Legal Department filed their Grounds of Resistance, and emailed me stating they had no intention of revoking Schedule 8.

July to September 2020 – I lobbied MP's, Councillors, Mental Health Professionals, and Members of the Public to contest the changes.

30 September 2020 – The Health Secretary announces in the House of Commons that the change to the Mental Health Act contained in the Coronavirus Act is not intended to be renewed... The Act was then voted for by the Commons, without Schedule 8, affecting England, being renewed.
