I watched a message that Nigel Farage left on Twitter this evening advising people to write to their MPs now and this pushed me into action!
I have therefore sent an email to my MP this evening.
I believe that many of you have already been writing to your MP but I think that now is the time to call out those MPs who need to challenge what is going on.
I attach a draft of my email in case anybody wants to use it, or bits of it, for their MP - you may find some of my comments useful?
DRAFT OF LETTER I SENT TO MY MP

Absolutely. Ask them questions they will find difficult to answer, that is if they are going to reply truthfully. Put them on the spot, make them uncomfortable, make them think. You never know, some of it might sink in. You have nothing to lose. Go for it. 😊
You're right. It is exactly the sort of reply I expected, although, as you say, I half expected no reply at all.
Whether it will do any good, I do not know but I am thinking of replying with questions along the following lines:
1) These restrictions are supposed to be important "for the long term health of the population ...."
How does that work when, through these restrictions, although few are dying of Covid-19 by comparison, thousands are now dying of cancer, heart attacks, dementia and so on through the lack of support by the NHS?
2) These restrictions are supposed to be important "for the long term health of ...... our economy".
How does this work when thousands of businesses are going under and millions of people are losing their jobs? Also, how is our economy going to benefit when the government is throwing millions at various issues putting this country into greater and greater debt?
3) You talk about "ramping up testing capacity".
How does testing help when more and more people are learning that testing is very very inaccurate? I would send this person the following clip of 1993 Nobel Prize Winner Kary Mullis who invented the PCR test talking about it: https://twitter.com/i/status/1308573120622546946
4) You talk about investing "in research into potential vaccinations against the disease ....."
Is this not a waste of our tax money, some of it having been paid by your constituents. All the evidence shows that few are dying of the virus now, and a large number of experts say that the evidence shows that it is past its peak. Although some will die this winter, this is like any other coronvirus including flu - incidentally, currently far more people are dying of flu and pneumonia than of Covid-19. Have you looked at the statistics. Here is one bar chart for your information.
Also, there are good treatments available for Covid-19 now.
I have got to finish my thoughts on this but this is the gist. What do you think?
Venetia - Only expected this kind of reply, didn't you? The usual Government spiel. Whoever your MP is, they will be hearing from me too, as I have written to all of them. I am never rude, but being a working class commoner, all my missives are hard hitting, blunt and designed with maximum impact. As we say up North "I'll give them what for". My MP was very amenable until I started questioning the Covid narrative. He either can't or won't answer me. You were lucky, even though it wasn't the response you were after.
And here is a copy of the reply that I received:
Thank you for your email and for taking the time to share your concerns with me.
I do understand your frustration with the latest restrictions announced by the Government. Like you, I am concerned about the impact of restricted social contacts upon our economy and upon the mental health of our population and I have raised these concerns with my colleagues in Government.
I do also think however that the most important thing for the long term health of the population and our economy is to ensure Covid-19 remains under control and I believe that the action taken by the Government is appropriate and proportionate. However, these restrictions cannot last forever. I am therefore very supportive of the work the Government has been doing to ramp up our testing capacity and to invest in research into potential vaccinations against the disease both of which could help us all return to a more normal life; I hope before too long.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your thoughts with me, I will certainly bear them in mind when I am addressing this matter with colleagues in the days and weeks ahead.
Very best wishes
Venetia Carpenter - Excellent.
