We are winning this war. Like many of you I've been quite disheartened by the blind refusal of most people to see beyond the propaganda, but my experiences at yesterday's protest raised my hopes and I want to share my optimism and why
I have no idea how many attended the protest at Hyde Park yesterday, several hundred at least maybe 1000 plus, I didn't go to the last one but those who did told me that the crowd was 10 times bigger than before. There is a momentum building
Great speakers, dear old Peirs Corbyn did his bit along with whistle blower from the NHS and a former military intelligence officer who I was lucky enough to speak with at length afterwards. Very useful information.
I travelled to London by train and tube visited shops and take away with no problem. No one seems keen to enforce it. Only a few people not wearing masks but I noticed several mask wearers removing or pulling down their masks when they saw me without
As we marched down Oxford Street shouting take off the mask. Lots of support from the public, clapping cheering and I watched bus drivers, shoppers and shop staff removing the mask. They seemed relieved to have the permission. A couple of brain dead hecklers but on the whole we were well received.
My sense is that there is much more popular support for what we are doing than we realise. People are scared and they just need to see others take a stand. The cracks are showing and if we can keep the momentum going, the dam will burst
I felt optimistic for the first time since lockdown was first introduced whilst marching along Oxford Street and Regent Street yesterday. Our number, which seemed quite small at Speaker's Corner (many don't need to hear the speeches, if you are there, you already know what you need to know so people spread out and sat in the shade under trees waiting for the marching to begin) looked a lot greater in number when we were marching along the shopping streets and mixing with the buses, taxis and shoppers. Definitely worth it. It was my second demo in two weeks I intend to attend every single one in London. I signed my name to be a part of the 24 hour vigil outside Downing Street in support of the cause. One important thing though, as our demos grow in size, there will likely be agent provocateurs sent in amongst us, paid for by the elites, who will start trouble and try to incite violence and/or criminal damage to try to get the police involved and the majority of the crowd against the police. In short to try to start a riot so that middle England is turned against us. It is important that we don't fall for this and actually help the police (who are just doing their job, hopefully) to arrest any troublemakers. Hope you all understand what I'm getting at here?
Thanks Adrian, thought it was a great day too, and glad to be with you somewhere in the crowd. The march, in particular, was superb! Late comers found us by seeing where the helicopter was hovering; great music to march to; bus drivers and taxi drivers high-fiving everyone as they passed in procession, strangers out for the day shopping joining the parade; children joining in; no trouble and a carnival atmosphere for a serious protest!
The joining of lots of similar groups is what is needed for big numbers; small groups sticking to a very narrow protest narrative will not create a big enough impact, I fear.
Hope it’s even bigger next time!
Really good positive news. Feels like real progress is being made.
Thanks Adrian - I was wondering how it went - really useful report.
