Yesterday’s paper ran a front page and inside pages article on the disastrous effect social distancing barriers are having in a Main Street in Paisley. The astonishing thing is the cost and the planned duration of 18 months without any consultation, and they are rightly condemned as a waste of money. It shows utter contempt for the traders, and frankly nobody is interested in having the barriers for social distancing nonsense. I wonder how long ago the Scottish government started planning this and where the money comes from and where did 18 months come from? Glasgow council council have erected similar ugly and unnecessary barriers on the main road between Paisley and Glasgow, with same effect on small businesses and are a danger to pedestrians and cyclists as they narrow the road and obscure view.

We had social distancing barriers in my town too. Happily they have now been removed. Complete waste of time and money. Got to have a go at the Council - see if they know about Agenda 21 etc. Bet they haven't got a clue and are just following "guidelines". What I do know is that they are replacing the street lights with LEDs at an alarming speed. No doubt there is a financial incentive, but I would bet that they don't know the real reason for this heinous technology. They are good at spending other people's money, but when it comes down to it, they are not all that bright!
