Ocean of Truth
You were there, you saw it all
With eyes that would not see.
You heard the whispers growing loud
So you turned up the BBC
Your gut, it screamed a warning
But you’d grown so disconnected
That the only message you received
Was how not to get infected.
You stood upon the shoreline
As an ocean of truth lapped your feet
But you couldn’t risk saturation
So you chose to step back and retreat.
Your mind filled with questions unanswered
But the fog of fear filled up the void
Obscuring from view the most glaring of truths
That your freedom was being destroyed
Our hearts strive for love and compassion
So they find it so hard to believe
Why those who claim to protect us
Would instead, choose to harm and deceive.
And the loop it continues unfettered
Returning to where it began
There must be good reason for current events
There’s no way that this could be a scam.
Is it easier to blame those who doubt this?
Who’ve tore through this sin and illusion?
Those journeys are painful and torrid
But they end in one certain conclusion
The world you believed that you lived in
Is nothing like you had perceived
Will you choose to shoot the messenger?
With no stake in a world filled with greed.
And our history teaches a lesson
That the virtue of ‘do as your told’
Has paved way for so much human suffering
That your duty is now to be bold
Remember your personal sovereignty
It’s served you so well through the years
Don’t let yesterday’s wrongs become today’s rights
Seek the truth and push through your fears.
We are many when we stand together
Same hopes and same dreams for our young
When we realise we share the same mission
Then our time will finally have come.
