If Trump really cares he'll use his last months in office to pass some laws making lockdowns illegal for states to enforce. Add some extra fundamental rights to that oh-so-useful written constitution that those lucky yanks have, our anti-lockdown voting MPs are right, we need one too. If he's lost (very probable now but not fully certain yet) then he's still president until some time in january, it is only a matter of tradition that retiring presidents don't make major policies in that time, it is NOT a law and if I remember rightly his party still has a majority in their legislature. If Trump wants to do the right thing he'll ensure that by the time Biden takes office Herd Immunity will have been reached and the pandemic will be over, not merely over in the sense that it already is but over in the sense that everyone realises it is over.

I was surprised to find myself agreeing with May, I'd always seen her as "the surveillance queen" and "Mrs snoopers charter", I always imagined she'd be for a full Peruvian or Melbourne style assault on basic rights, quite the surprise to find otherwise. The other surprise is how the "liberal" democrats let liberty die, how the "workers party" Labour let jobs be ruined, and how so many "conservatives" are after a big state. As a remainer who stopped caring about remaining the day that I saw so much of europe falling in to lockdown, and the EU not stopping it, who now finds some of the brexity MPs to be some of the best, I know what having your political worldview inverted is like. I now that only 38 MPs are worth anything at all, Swayne is right at the top of them as a worthy replacement for our cowardly PM (I've hated Boris since forever, except for in the few days when he championed Herd Immunity before going insane on the 23rd).
