I am quickly coming to the opinion that this is merely 'noise' from the tories - they're very good at noise! How can they request an amendment to a law that cannot be amended? There appears little mileage in this plus, of course, the speaker can rule it out anyway.
The tories cannot get a majority here as the numbers are too low. My question therefore is, what's this all about? Is it the self preservation of the conservative party more than it is about giving back the freedom to the population?

Pete - I think you may not be far wrong. Everything this government does stinks, only serves their own interests and despite any communication from us this side of proceedings does not interest them. Give them enough rope and they will hang themselves, I'm just waiting for the day. Having done, along with my Son my share of writing to my MP and he to his without a hint of a reply, councils too, we have wasted time and so far nothing has changed, not even a hint of a breakthrough. However neither of us gives in easily but we agree with those members on the forum who think it's time to turn it up a notch. This has to be what is right for you but whatever we have to bring winning this nearer.
It can be found by typing "Brady" in the search box.

Salsa - Thanks for that info. Guess what mine isn't, why am I surprised? I reckon we run a cardboard cut out for our MP, just as useless! I made the effort why couldn't he for once try and redeem himself, except he has an ulterior motive. He was one of the failed 5 standing for leader when fate played her hand and we landed Boris, and if he feels a vacancy coming on he won't want to blot his copy book by being out of step. I don't even want to waste the money on a stamp as my feelings regarding letters to MPs reaching their intended goal bare out the fact that very few were answered and those that were, were bog standard drivel. I on the other hand did write to Sir Graham Brady, I could settle for him being my MP if he pulls it off on the 30th then I could put ours out for re-cycling.😂
