I know it doesn’t really matter, but is Bobby Kennedy’s voice usually that croaky? Or did he get a sore throat from doing a lot of public speaking lately? Being an American politician I would guess it’s more likely to be the latter. Nevertheless it was a very passionate well-delivered speech (especially with having to use a translator) containing some profound wisdom. I particularly agree with the war analogy and the warning that we should do everything we can to avoid becoming a cashless society. Dr Vernon Coleman released a YouTube video yesterday morning talking about the need for us to walk out of shops that refuse to accept cash, even if we normally pay with debit/credit card. The only part of Kennedy’s speech that confused me was his reference to Jeffrey Zuckerberg. Was this a mistake and did he mean to say Mark Zuckerberg? Hopefully future historians will look back on the 29th of August as the start of the tide turning in our favour. It feels like there has been a subtle change of atmosphere in the last few days, almost like a switch being flicked on for an energy saving low wattage light bulb. Hopefully the light gets brighter and by the end of September, with the help of more high profile influential speakers, the general public can be woken up from their torpor.
Mark Kennaird - I think Bobby has a medical condition that affects his voice box. He's had it for a long time. Yes I did think it was Mark Zukerberg that he meant. As for cash, they are using the virus as an excuse to get rid of it. Here's a little complaint I made to M&S after my experience at the rally on Saturday. We have to vote with our feet:
The difference between M&S and Waitrose.
'I went into M&S in Euston to get a salad and a little plastic bottle of wine for my tea. At the door it was "mask, mask!." I went to pay, and they wouldn't accept my cash.
Little Waitrose at Kings Cross. No Gestapo at the front door, and "how can we help you madam, card or cash?" The chap at the till was an absolute darling and so helpful.. He even gave me a knife and fork and serviettes for my salad.
At both Burnley and Rawtestall M&S you can still use cash in their machines, so why not Euston? So for M&S say that it is due to Covid is lies and deception. I will never go into M&S now ever, or use your card machines. Waitrose forever from now on. They know what real customer service is about, not just paying lip service to it. I hope M&S goes down the pan big time!'
