Hi all,
Firstly thank you all for setting up an environment where healthy skepticism and diversity of thought can thrive. I thought I'd share with you my full letter to the Prime Minster and The Conservative Party. Some of this had to be removed due to the character limitations of their sites, however here is my perspective in full. Dear Boris,
I write to you as a concerned citizen.
I notice with great disappointment that you are yet again introducing draconian measures in a futile attempt to control a virus.
Much aside from the devastating effects on our economy, that has effectively condemned future generations to financial purgatory, or the estimated 27,000 deaths caused by lockdown itself, or the hypocrisy of allowing illegal immigrants free access to our society, it is your distain for civil liberties I find most egregious.
We are told (not asked), by yourself, that we may not attend the funerals of loved ones, receive cancer treatment, shake hands with old friends or meet with a specific number of people (this number changes depending on what day of the week it is it seems). The latest idea is to mandate the wearing of an unspecified standard of mask indoors, and “to shame” those who exercise their own judgement and refuse to comply. I now also see, that you have ordered the police to enforce this.
The economy has been destroyed, the businesses that have gone under will not be able to magically resurrect as you seem to think (they are actually quite complex operations and require a LOT of preparation to launch – not the kind of thing that can simply “recover” once key staff have left), crime has gone up, people have died BECAUSE of lockdown and our civil liberties have been utterly vandalised – for what, exactly….?
A 0.3% mortality rate.
I hope that you have net estimates on the amount of people killed by these policies Vs the deferred (NOT prevented) deaths of this flu strain we are calling Covid.
Yet all of this, catastrophic as it is, pales in comparison the damage done to the fabric of our society by your flagrant abuse of power. We are not the obedient Germans, who so willingly escorted 6 million Jews onto train carts when ordered to, or the equally compliant French, who rolled over to the Germans at the slightest inclination of threat. We are British – we build Empire that shapes the world, discover DNA, formulate revolutionary theories on black holes, establish the industrial revolution and defeat Nazi’s when all others cowered. We have achieved these incredible things, precisely because we are NOT obedient. We respect only the self-evident truth. The truth that liberty is more important than safety, that it is for the free man to determine his own fate, and not yield to another by fiat or diktat. The truth, that it is for the individual to decide what risks he will take, and which he will not.
Boris, what you are doing is antithetical to this defiant, illustrious spirit. One wonders what Churchill would make of such cowardice in the face of such little adversity.
What you are doing, is deferring the inevitable at greater and greater cost. What you are doing, does not fall in line with what could be described as “self evidently true”. Quite the opposite in fact, as Sweden has now irrefutably proven.
Needles to say, as a rational, free thinking man, I will not be complying with any of these reprehensible Covid rules, and welcome legal challenge in court so I may draw attention to the innumerable contradictions with this half-baked law-by-decree.
I will also never be voting for the “Conservatives” again, thanks to your appalling handling of this situation and your utter contempt for civil liberties.
May the Conservative party and all those who currently serve it, be condemned to the dustbin of history.
Disgusted,
Mxxxxx Gxxxxx
loved it every word especially being condemned to the dustbin of history I feel exactly the same way he is probably quivering in his boris boots after reading that might do some damage to his ego hopefully
Mr Mittens, Good letter. I recently wrote to Sir Graham Brady, Chairman of the 1922 Committee,in similar terms and got a quick reply from his office that, reading between the lines, was quite encouraging. They said they had passed it on to him and that he would definitely read it. Maybe you should send him a copy of yours. (I have previously written to BJ and Hancock and needless to say not a peep from .)
Mr Mittens - Unfortunately the Conservatives won the recent elections by a big majority. If it was a coming election year like in the USA, I bet it would be a very different story! It's a shame that the 'Monster Raving Loony Partly' wasn't voted into power. They would probably have made a better job of running this country. Thanks for sending the letter. I have e-mailed my MP and Hancock a few times, but no reply as I expected. I dislike Hancock so much, that if I see his face on TV or a computer screen I have to switch it off.
p.s. I love the kitty in the picture.
Hi Mr Mittens - welcome to KBF. It will be interesting to see what Boris (or one of his minions) says but I suspect it will be a fob off. But you wrote and that is the important thing.
KBF encourages people to write to thier MPs - some don't reply even though they're obliged to. I'm involved in a correspondence with my MP, so much so that we are becoming pen-pals. To his credit he always replies, mostly to fob me off but I will not be and I challenge what he writes.
The best way to get a response is, not just to complain, but to ask questions which they must answer. If my MP doesn't answer a question, I go back and ask why. So my latest questions, which were contained at the end of a long email containing my evidence were:
On what (quality) scientific evidence did the Government base their revised decision regarding mandatory face coverings in order to prevent transmission of the virus?
Why have GPs been told NOT to issue exemption letters for people who suffer from severe asthma?
What advice would you give to asthma sufferers or indeed any other people who are disadvantaged by face coverings (lip readers, people with respiratory conditions etc)?
What advice would you give to workers who must wear masks for a significant period or time and feel nauseous?
Will you support the wearing of face masks by children under 11?
What is your opinion of the influence of funding by the Gates Foundation? Do you consider this purely philanthropic with no conflicts of interest regarding policy making in the UK Government?
Can you assure me you will always work in the interest of your constituents?
Are my fears of untested mandatory vaccines unfounded?
I'm sure you can think of many others.....
Well said. I look forward to the response you get (ha that will be something to laugh at, I bet) Actually, I won’t laugh I shall more than likely be so angry and upset at the outcome, but one can hope, that’s all we have now. I completely agree with your words and courage you show, so thank you for writing to our wonderful leader!!!
