I’ve just seen the latest news from New Zealand where the prime minister Ardern has just made the incomprehensible decision to lock down an entire city (Auckland) because of an ‘outbreak’ of FOUR, yes FOUR cases! This, to me, appears to be the stupidest most pointless decision made by any government anywhere in the 21st century. With this unbelievable overreaction, New Zealand truly has reached the top of the madness mountain, or as Rod Liddell once succinctly put it, “peak wank”! I truly believe the people who make these decisions need to be allocated a nice luxurious padded cell of their own. It’s almost as if she saw the barbaric, totalitarian shutdown of Melbourne and thought ‘I can beat that!’ I wonder how average New Zealanders feel about this nonsense, or have they been brainwashed much like the Scots to believe every decision coming from their female leader is perfect.
If there was ever a country that should be focussing 100% on rebuilding their economy it’s New Zealand, which has twice has many sheep (real sheep that is) as it does people. On what clown planet can anyone ever justify shutting down an entire city-and imposing stricter measures on other cities- based on a pitiful 4 cases from the same house. Unfortunately, this ludicrous decision will be mostly praised in the media and will encourage other blind spineless governments (like ours) to lock down cities or regions at the drop of a hat. I don’t know if Simon Dolan has thought about this but I think if the legal challenge to lockdown is unsuccessful would it then be feasible to stipulate a minimum number of new cases (ie.50,000) to give our government the permission to shut down an entire region of the country. I don’t know how winnable this would be in court but we certainly need to consider every option to avoid the absolute lunacy being inflicted on people on the other side of the world.
