    Loss of liberty - why?

    in YOUR STORIES

I was pondering on why so many people were so quickly to give away there rights of freedom, beyond the doom mongering rhetoric of the Government and media. I wonder - and I post this as a question - if part of it is because my generation (50's), the one above and the one below have never had to fight for it. Have we taken it for granted? If we had to fight a war for the liberty of Europe and the UK would we value it more and not allow anybody to give it away? People in this site will know how important it is to preserve such things but I feel there are plenty around us who do not.

    Just a question.
