My self employed entertainment business lost all it's bookings on 22nd March 2020 and i didn't qualify for any of the support schemes due to not fitting the cirteria. Now surviving on Tax Credits with my savings dwindling away. Can't get conventional employment due to personal issues, hence going SE in the first place. At my witts end on how I'm going to make ends meat in the next few months. Yes, i know I'm not alone, but that does not stop me dwelling on my own situation. Then to read the articale that leisure venues will have to close, and people won't be allowed to mingle when the schools return, was the final straw. How the hell is anyone in the service sector supposed to survive? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-53621613

It's hard I know. I am saying re-invent yourself but struggling to do the same. It's only sheer defiance that keeps me going. Hope you find a way.
I'm self employed as well and although my business is still open, sales are dwindling. The only thing I can suggest is re-inventing yourself and what you do. There are lots of things you can do as a self employed person. Although I know it's not easy THEY want to kill entrepreneurial spririt. Let it drive you. Don't give up!
NewMoonMagic - Even if you don't go totally 'off grid', there are still places you can get 'far from the madding crowd'. Where I live the farmer still brings milk to the door and a few people sell eggs from their little chickens. These places are becoming very few and far between in this packed country, but they are still there if you look. In fact, until the 24th of July when masks were enforced in our village, you wouldn't know that Covid19 existed if you didn't read the papers or watch the news. Life just went on as normal. I know I come on these forums and use the Internet, but other than that I am off Boris's radar.
This thread brings me to tears. I am so angry and upset to hear about your situation. So many people, our fellow brothers and sisters are going to be in this boat. All I can say is - its going to get a hell of a lot worse so pls do anything you can to secure yourself.
I was out the other day with my RF meter and a friend looking for where they are putting up the 5G towers in our area. We went up a country lane and happened upon a few caravans clustered together on the verge. One had an amazing little allotment built onto it. We stopped and ended up having an electrifying talk with the man living there. He understands the difference between law and legal. He has revoked his citizenship. He stands proud and dignified living on the land, self-sufficient. He wasn't a smelly, grungy, aggressive traveller as the Press would like us to believe anyone in a caravan on the side of the road is. He was a freaking example to us of whats possible. I felt humbled. He said that all around the country there is land that is owned by no-one - common land. This land can be claimed and if you know law you can live on it.
Would I go off and do that alone? No because I would wobble as soon as the Police turn up coz I dont know how to spout the law yet. But I tell you what - I am seriously considering looking for a verge near that man. We can grow our own veg, we can keep warm with fires, we can set -up near streams and we can cluster together and look after each other. Where there's a will there's a way.
Stuart Harrison - My Dad was in the French Resistance. He was tortured by the Germans to get information. I have seen his scars. He's dead now, but his fighting spirit lives on in me. As I can't go to work, I spend most of my time on here and on other platforms like it trying to spread the word. I'm in one of those areas in East Lancashire that has hardly a virus case, but have been locked up by Boris anyway. Good job we take no bloody notice of him! One day he's going to take one step too far. You can see the cracks starting to appear, that's why he's ramping things up big time to keep the pressure on. A blind man can see it. Finally, if you haven't subscribed to Lockdown Sceptics they are a mega website, and send out newsletters most days. They tell you what's really going on! Best wishes - from Grumpy xx ( you get an on-line kiss as I can't give you a real hug!)
Stuart Harrison - I wish I could help you. So many people in the same boat. The toll taken on people's mental and physical health is enormous. Mine included. I can't go back to my vocation either, and I'm one of those left by the wayside by the NHS along with so many others. There's hardly anybody dying of the virus anymore, but you still can't see a doctor or get a hospital admission.
