I went out for a coffee with a friend yesterday and was asked by the waitress for my name and phone number. I asked what this was for and she said its for track and trace. I was about to walk out but my friend gave her info instead. Ridiculous! I also never wore a mask and I got the impression some staff (in other shops, this cafe) were pleased I didn't, smiling (can see their eye wrinkles) and greeting me. I got a few looks but no one said anything. Has anyone been asked or heard of track and trace when going out for a coffee? I thought this was an optional app?

This will work for now. Unfortunately with 5G all people with a phone will have every detail it contains downloaded and analysed. Those who don't have phones will be pulled in. When the vaccine linked tracking system is introduced there wont be any hiding place. We are the virus they are seeking to control.
Track and trace is being introduced under the guise of controlling the virus but in reality it is designed to limit our freedom in the future.
One way to avoid their surveillance is to switch your phone to aeroplane mode. Only switch your phone on when you need to.
Write Boris Johnson 10 Downing street, hopefully when enough people do this Boris will be tracked, traced and isolated.
A friend of mine on fb posted a photo of a track and trace form he filled in in a pub - he filled in Matt Hancocks details 😆
Maybe we should all do that...
Lindsay - Personally for me, it doesn't matter what sort of lie it is. I'm a naughty bad girl and proud of it. I'll be just as sneaky and underhand as the Government has been from day one. No mask, no contact tracing. We have to get round the system by fair means or foul as far as I am concerned. But that's just me. A pensioner now, but still a rebel!
I suppose there is such a thing as a good lie. We need to protect ourselves.
Here in E. in Scotland all Cafe's/Pubs/Beer gardens etc. practice track and trace - needless to say I am not supporting the New Abnormal.
A friend of mine goes in to the Cafe's with an Alibi and writes down a fake phone number - I don't want to start lying so I just won't go until this madness stops! Shame as I miss having coffee so much :(
Lindsay - Chris McDonnell is correct in what he says. However a lot of coffee shops and pubs are not asking. Some like Cafe Nero request you use an App at the counter. Well I don't have one, and they never ask. Some places have a pen and paper for you to write your details on. As you will find with any of the 'mandates' the Government has brought out, some shops, cafes and restaurants enforce the rules and some don't bother. I went to fish and chip restaurant in Blackpool recently. They asked for my details but I stood my ground. I told her I didn't trust the Government with my private data. She said "well we can't force you". I sat there and enjoyed my meal.
Places to eat have been asked to gather this information as part of their conditions of being 'allowed' to open. Write down Mickey Mouse at 1 noneofyourbusiness street, neverland and they shouldn't challenge you too much!
