PRELIMINARY HEARING UPDATE
Yesterday, our preliminary hearing took place. This was an important step in the Judicial Review process, finally allowing our legal team to outline why we believe lockdown is unlawful in open court. Broadcast live over Skype, the proceedings gathered widespread media interest and the discussions were live Tweeted by respected legal commentator Joshua Rozenberg. You can view his commentary here.

The court heard, that just over 100 days ago, our Government forced the entire country into total lockdown. In that time, the economy has suffered a scale of damage we’ve not seen in over 300 years. Hundreds of billions have been wiped off a previously healthy economy and millions of people are now out of work – over 12,000 new redundancies were announced this week alone.
The harmful toll of lockdown on the hardworking British public stops not just at the economy, it has ravaged the health, wellbeing and livelihoods of 66 million people. A mental health crisis is looming, domestic violence has skyrocketed and the NHS faces waiting lists bigger than ever before. What’s more, our children are being denied an education, despite the risk the virus poses to them being incredibly low. With the blanket ban on education doing next to nothing to control the spread of the virus, the individual should be free to take their own decision based on personal circumstances.
These were just some of the points made, underlining how important this legal case is in trying to bring this Government and its decisions to account.
As the hearing closed, the judge acknowledged the importance of the case and they will now decide whether we have the right to proceed with a full Judicial Review. We are looking forward to receiving the judgement.
What started for me as a personal crusade against Government ineptitude quickly turned into a campaign for everyone, when more than 6,000 people donated to the crowdfunding appeal which has now raised over £200,000. Â
Many of you reading this will have donated to the appeal. Once again, I want to say thank you for making this historic court case possible. It is your incredible support and strength of feeling which also underlines why this Judicial Review is so vital.
